A TRAGIC ROMEO AND JULIET
In Memoriam Diana, Princess of Wales (1961-1997)
& Dodi Al Fayed (1955-1997)
At
first light now this land of Cymru wakes
to
an emotion of tears, as the land's soul grieves
in
the shiver tragedy bears.
Voices
acknowledge 'There for the grace of God go we'
as
their shock racks them through.
A
nation has stopped, the day has begun to cry
a
disbelief that tortures our thoughts now.
A
Queen of Hearts abdicated by death has breathed
for
the final time under the orange glows
of
the siren, the mangled twist of a metal prison.
From
a whisper to a scream, the glow that was her
will
not shine here any longer now for she's been taken back.
She
died within the dignity of love; happiness was her escort
at
least in the end we might say.
I
can hear the eerie whine of a summer wind
in
the darkness that was her drape.
My
eyes solid with stare do not believe although they must.
Forward
we will go in time, but for now
gripped
by our own memories we will remember.
This
fairytale has crumbled, and we now must
close
her book.
A
tragic Romeo and Juliet now lie together
in
the sunshine of another day away from
the
captors that stole their hearts.
For
all our tomorrows, Diana gave us her today.
